Scholarship

Dear Student,

The Central Florida Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, Inc. (the Chapter) is proud to announce its 2013 Scholarship Program. The Program will consist of two scholarships: the Darden/CFL NBMBAA Business Scholarship and the CFL NBMBAA Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) Alumni Scholarship. These scholarships will make ten thousand dollars ($10,000) available to qualified minority students. The application guidelines are listed below:

 

Darden/CFL NBMBAA Business Scholarship (up to two $2,500 scholarships)

To be eligible, applicant must be a minority student currently enrolled in a business program at a college or university in the state of Florida. The college or university must be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Applicants must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 at the time of the award (Fall 2013).  Not receive 100% tuition assistance or reimbursement from your employer. Enrolled in AACSB Accredited institution in the state of Florida.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

I. Completed Online application

II. Official transcripts are required for all coursework. Based on your education level to date, submit the following

Official, verifiable transcripts accordingly:

A. High school graduates: Submit official high school transcript

B. Returning undergraduate students: Submit official cumulative undergraduate transcript through the semester

of application.

C. Recent College Graduates: Submit final undergraduate transcript

D. Graduate Students: Submit current transcript as well as undergraduate transcript

III. Prepare a 3-5 minute video essay addressing the following topic, upload to YouTube, Vimeo etc. and paste link into application:

 

How will pursuing a business education serve as a catalyst for change? (Analyze the impact that it may have on your personal life, the value of the degree and what you plan to do with it.

 

IV. Applicant must provide the URL link to their 100% completed LinkedIn resume. The online resume must include a headshot, completed job description and two (2) or more recommendations via LinkedIn on professional results and/or community service impact.

 

CFL NBMBAA LOT Alumni Scholarship Requirements (up to five $1,000 scholarships)

To be eligible, applicant must be a minority student currently enrolled in a four (4) year accredited college or university. Applicants must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5/4.0 at the time of award (Fall 2013). Applicants must have been a member of the Central Florida Chapter of NBMBAA Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) program for one (1) year or more while in high school. Applicants should demonstrate record of community service. Applicants should be willing to function in a mentorship role to current LOT students. Not receive 100% tuition assistance or reimbursement from your employer.

Enrolled in a four (4) year accredited college or university

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

In the three (3) minutes that you have, initiate a conversation where you introduce yourself and discuss the following:

 

Background:

Your name, and year(s) you participated in the CFL NBMBAA LOT program

 

Education:

College attending & Major, describe how LOT helped to prepare you for college

 

Career Goals:

Expound on your career aspiration & how LOT helped you to hone in on your career interests

 

Community Impact:

Describe community service you have rendered, what you could provide to the students currently enrolled in LOT

 

Close the conversation by elaborating on:

How LOT can benefit other high school students

 

IV. Applicant must provide the URL link to their 100% completed LinkedIn resume. The online resume must include a headshot, completed job description and two (2) or more recommendations via LinkedIn on professional results and/or community service impact.
